How and where to find products to sell
If you want to sell
a product online, but don't have a product of your own, that is not a problem!
There are literally
hundreds if not thousands of products you can sell as an affiliate, and never
even touch or see the inventory.
The following is a
list of the top affiliate membership type sites and I will explain exactly
what they are and how they work.
ClickBank
Commission Junction
LinkShare.com
Clickbank is a favorite among the "Internet Marketing" group because it
specializes in only electronic information. These are not tangible products,
but instead items such as ebooks and electronic reports, software, scripts
etc.
The beauty and appeal of these items to the internet marketer comes from ease
of delivery and high profit margin. Because these are e-items, there is no
overhead and no delivery fees for either the buyer or seller. Once ordered and
instantly paid for via credit card, the buyer is sent to download page and the
ebook, software etc is instantly downloaded.
Because f this incredibly low overhead, affiliates are offered great
commission rates, usually in the ballpark of 50%!
If you want to
become an affiliate of clickbank and sell their items on your website, the
process is quite simple.
Just visit
ClickBank, fill in the
affiliate sign up form, and then browse the inventory of thousands of items.
When you find one or many that match and complement your websites theme, click
on the "get code" link and cut and paste the code into your site.
All tracking,
payments, processing etc. is handled by Clickbank.
All you have to do
is check your stats and collect your checks.
It couldn't be
simpler.
Commission Junction and
LinkShare.com
work on the same basic principle with a few differences.
These services
also offer tangible products from well known brick and mortar businesses.
One major
difference is that assuming you've signed for either service, same as you
would for clickbank, instead of searching directly for products, you would
instead search for merchants.
Once you have
found merchants whose products you would like to sell, you must apply to their
individual affiliate program.
This is a very
simple procedure, basically just a click of the mouse from within the
Commission Junction or
LinkShare.com
program, but worth mentioning because there is the possibility of being turned
down by the individual program within.
This changes the
strategy slightly. Instead of doing what some webmasters advocate, that is
finding your niche product, building a site or pages to accommodate it and
then signing up for the program, I always sign up for the program first to see
if I am accepted and then spend my time promoting it.
It only makes
sense :o)
If you have found
a product or service on the web that you would like to promote, but do not see
them listed as affiliates in the big programs, they may have their own
affiliate program setup. Make sure to visit their site and check thoroughly
for an affiliate link. If you cannot find one and you still want to push this
product, contact the webmaster of the site and setup some type of Joint
Venture with them.
You would be
surprised at the response you might get.
Good Luck in this Marketing Jungle!
